Online Test

TEST WILL BE CONDUCTED FROM 10TH MAY 10 AM TO 6 PM.


Important instructions Please read in detail before log in:
 

  1. Once you log in and click on “Begin Test “button, your login shall be valid for 1hrs for test submission. After 1 hr the test will be submitted automatically. Don’t close your test internet browser or logout during this period before submitting the test; you will not be allowed to give test again. Only a single login is allowed to the user.
     
  2. Please also ensure that you have a reliable power backup system such as an Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) system which can provide you enough backup to finish your examination and submit the results. At no point of time after you begin the test and before you submit the test should you let the system shut down. No re-test will be allowed in any condition.
  3. We suggest that you check your system by giving a mock test on 2nd may. You can give this mock test using the same user ID and Password that will be E-Mailed to you for the final test. This will give you an idea of the kind of questions as well as the exact testing process you are going to face on the day of the actual test. We also recommend that you take this mock test on the actual computer system which you intend to use during the day of the examination, doing so will help you find out if your system is compatible and has the necessary hardware and software requirements or not.
  4. Incase you face any technical problems during the online test you can call up our HeliOdyssey Technical Helpdesk  for assistance at  011-45086320, 011-41574592 or live chat with us on yahoo messenger by adding any of the profiles Heliodyssey1, Heliodyssey2, Heliodyssey3, Heliodyssey4, Heliodyssey5 and Heliodyssey6 as contacts. 
  5. The online test will be randomly generated so every login will result in a different set of questions.  
  6. Once you have logged in and clicked on "Begin Test" button, you need not worry even if the connection is broken, you can attempt the exam and submit it within 1 hour of clicking on “Begin Test”. Once you finish your test and wish to submit it, you need to be connected to the internet.



Procedure for Examination:

* The participants will be selected on the basis of an online examination.
* The online test site will be opened only on 10th of May 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
* Students will be allotted time slots for giving the exam; Individual time slots will be communicated through e-mail after the receipt of payment. The candidate will be allowed to take the test only on the allotted date and slot.
* The participants will be required to log on to the site www.heliodyssey.org for accessing the question paper on the allotted date.
* The login will be of 1 hour duration
**which will include the time for examination and submission of answers.
**the login will be only valid for one hour from the time of login.
**After one hour the test timer is stopped and test is automatically submitted. Once the test timer is off, you will not be able to attempt the test any more. If net is not connected at the time of submit, a message is displayed to connect to internet and then submit. Don’t close the browser and you can submit the test up to 5 hrs.
* Only a single login is allowed per user. The paper will be randomly generated so every login will result in a different set of questions.

Test Dates

10th May 2008

The registered participants will be given an opportunity to appear for a mock test on 2nd of may 2008. The details will be sent to the registered candidates when the registration is received.

The individual details of the online test (login id & password) will be e-mailed to the contestant after he is registered successfully. These details will be provided after 25th April.


Examination Details:

Question Papers will be furnished to the contestant depending upon their age and class in which they study. There will be separate level of examination for different categories of participants.
1) 6th - 8th class
2) 9th - 12th class
It will be a Multiple Choice Question Paper having 50 questions from following categories
(1) General Science - 15 Questions
(2) General Astronomy - 15 Questions
(3) Logic and General Knowledge - 15 Questions
(4) Scientific Temperament - 05 Questions
 

Examination Results:

The results will be announced on the site on 15th of May 2008. The contestants can check our site for the list of 100 top (5 + 95) scorers. The winners will be informed via e-mail and telephonically.
The 5 winners who will be taken to Russia to view the Total Solar Eclipse & conduct experiments will be selected from the following categories
(1) 2 participants from class 6th - 8th
(2) 2 participants from class 9th - 12th
(3) 1 participant from existing SPACE Club members
 

Criteria of Calculation of Result:

a) A candidate has to score a minimum of 75% to be eligible as a prospect winner for the examination. Top 5 scorers will be the winners (according to the categories specified). In case of tie, selection shall be done by a computer operated random selection algorithm.
b) In case NO student is found to qualify in one of the categories, the seats will be given to the students from another category.
b) One Seat is reserved for the candidates who are existing members of SPACE. The highest scorer among them will be the winner. In case of tie, amongst those members, the selection shall be done by a computer operated random selection algorithm.


Selection procedure and Prizes:

The students will be selected on merit. The minimum criterion for qualification for the prize is to score 75% marks in the exam. The merit list will be made only for the qualifying participants.

  • Five winners will be taken to a fully sponsored Scientific Expedition to Russia to work with Scientist and conduct various experiments. (This will include Air Fare, Boarding, Lodging and all other traveling costs.)
  • Next 10 outstanding participants will receive personal Space View 76mm telescope.
  • Next 20 outstanding participants will receive Science Astronomy Kit.
  • Next 30 outstanding participants will receive Binocular (8x21).
  • Next 35 outstanding participants will receive Telescope Making Kit.

NOTE: All the participants will be awarded with a certificate of participation.
